Please pray for the surviving members of a family in our community that experienced a tragedy last evening.
Scott Showalter,
his wife,
their hired man,
and their two oldest daughters (about 9 and 11) all died after being overcome by gas in a pit on the farm.
Scott entered to take care of a pipe problem while empting the pit.
After he was overcome,
his hired man and then his wife entered to help.
I assume the girls did for the same reason.
Two younger daughters survive.
There is also a large extended family.
I am not personally acquainted with these people,
but they are members of a sister church to mine.
The testimony of other people is that all three of the adults testified and gave evidence of a genuine Christian experience.
(I think for all of them,
they came to that relationship with the Lord relatively recently.) It is comforting to know this about them.
But the accident is a shock to the community and certainly to their family.
